From goodreads: After leaving Society
and desperately searching for the Rising—and each other—Cassia and Ky
have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each
other yet again: Cassia has been assigned to work for the Rising from
within Society, while Ky has been stationed outside its borders. But
nothing is as predicted, and all too soon the veil lifts and things
shift once again.
In this gripping conclusion to the #1 New York Times-bestselling Matched
Trilogy, Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life
too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and
honoring a love she cannot live without.
I loved this conclusion of the Matched trilogy! I enjoyed the chapters written from the perspective of each of the main characters: Cassia, Ky, and Zander, and being able to watch the Rising happen from each of their viewpoints. It was interesting to watch them use their talents that the Society pin-pointed for the benefit of the Rising.
Ally's writing is, as usual, poetic and beautiful. At some points, I had to stop reading to really think about a statement a character made. Some of my favorite quotes are:
"The Pilot. The Poet. The Physic. They are in all of us. I believe this. That every person might have a way to fly, a line of poetry to put down for others to see, a hand to heal."
"A little surge of bitterness goes through me like someone's shot it right into my veins with a syringe."
"Inside me are the real things that give me strength--my thoughts, the small stones of my own choosing. They tumble in my mind, some polished from frequent turning, some new and rough, some that cut."
"We do find answers in beauty, more often than not."
I was completely satisfied with how the series ended, which I can't always say. I loved the growth of the characters and where they ended up. I liked that the ending wasn't predictable, and that each character ultimately 'reached' their destiny.
